Add the Clark Fork reel, matched line, backing, leader, and tippet to your rod order. We match the reel size and line weight to the rod you chose, so it shows up ready to fish. At $295, that’s $100 less than the reel bundle on its own ($395).

The Henrys Fork of the Snake is one of the most demanding trout rivers in the country. Long flats, wary fish, technical hatches, and presentations that have to be perfect. The anglers who fish it seriously tend to be the most particular about their gear of anyone on the water.
At 7'9" in a 5-weight medium action, this rod was designed for exactly that water. Long enough to reach a rising fish without crowding it. Soft enough in the action to keep the fly on the water at the end of a long drift. The rod does what the river asks.
Paul H. Young built rods in Michigan and designed a series of parabolic tapers - rods that load through the full blank rather than just the tip. The Para 14 is the most famous of them. It's a medium action 5-weight with a slow, deep load that produces a wide, unhurried loop at long range and places a fly on the water with minimum disturbance.
The Para 14 doesn't punch line. It carries it. On a long cast over a flat where a big brown is sipping spinners, that difference is the whole game. The rod absorbs the fight through the butt rather than the tip, which means fine tippet stays intact longer than it has any right to.
Anglers who have fished a lot of bamboo tend to reach for a Para 14 when the fishing gets serious.
The Henrys Fork is hand-planed to the standard that has defined Headwaters rods since 2002.
The fittings: A finely knurled double-locking downlocking reel seat with stabilized burled maple insert. Ultra-fine cork grip. Red agate stripping guide. Hard chrome guides wrapped in deep burgundy thread with a narrow black tip.
The tube: Cordura rod tube with rod sock included.
The Favorite | $400 - Single-tip version for the angler who wants to get on the water first. Same rod, same fittings, same hand-planed cane. Clear upgrade path to the Deluxe when you're ready.
