Jari Pará Forest Conservation Project

Never heard of it? Well, if you purchase anything from Headwaters Bamboo, you are helping to support its efforts. How's that you say?

At Headwaters Bamboo we are concerned about the world we live in. Climate change is making an impact in the outdoor spaces we frequent and fish. And so we want to do our part in helping to sustain wild places. We have elected to use an app developed for Shopify stores that pays a carbon offset for the environmental effects of shipping our products to our customers. We pay a small amount for each shipment we make to compensate for the carbon used.

So what is the Jari Pará Forest Conservation Project?

This project is based in the Amazonian rainforests in Brazil. Covering more than  400,000 hectares, it is a huge conservation undertaking that protects an area nearly the size of Delaware. This region is biodiverse, rich with plant species of ecological and social importance.

The Jari Pará Forest Conservation Project is a partnership between Biofilica  Environmental Investments and Jari Group that reduces greenhouse gasses and ensures forest conservation in the Amazon region. It's a certified project that is anticipated to prevent over 15 metric tons of CO2 that would otherwise be emitted. One metric ton will cause a change in the atmosphere, so 15 metric tons is significant.

We are excited to support this effort in the Amazon. We hope that you too will feel good about these efforts to preserve this planet and its resources for us and future generations.
