Hey there,

Twelve lessons. Two weeks. You just finished the most thorough bamboo fly rod course available anywhere, and I'm not saying that lightly.

You know why Tonkin cane is the only bamboo that works, and where on earth it grows. You know how a rod is split, planed, heat-treated, and assembled, and what "hand-built" actually means at each step. You know what a taper is and why the numbers on paper decide everything about how a rod fishes. You know the three action types, which fishing problems each one was designed to solve, and how to match the spec to your water. You know the six makers whose tapers we still build, and why their designs have lasted 70 years. You know how to cast bamboo, how to care for it, how to choose your first rod, and where ours come from.

Most people who call themselves bamboo anglers don't know half of that.

The Final Exam

One exam stands between you and the credential. Twelve questions drawn from everything you've covered. One per lesson. Take your time. You can reference the lessons. Score 10 or higher and you'll receive your Bamboo Certified Class of 2026 PDF certificate.

It's a real document. Print it, hang it, put it on your wall above your rods. You earned it.
