If your fly’s not landing where you want it — or your loop looks more like spaghetti than a tight “D” — here’s a casting tip that can change your whole season:
Slow. It. Down.
In fly fishing, timing is everything. And most anglers are moving way too fast.
Whether it’s excitement, muscle memory from fast graphite, or just a little too much morning coffee, it’s easy to rush your cast. But slowing your tempo gives your rod time to load — and that leads to tighter loops, cleaner turnover, and more control.
And what helps with timing?
Well... bamboo. Obviously. But if you’re not ready to make the full leap, or if you are curious about other types of retro rod material, there’s a happy middle ground:
Fiberglass.
Our FlexGlass rods are built from modern S-2 unidirectional fiberglass — not the noodly glass of the 1970s. They’re crisp, responsive, and perfectly tuned to help you feel the rod load and release with each cast.
Deeper flex = better rhythm
Slower tempo = more accuracy
More feel = better timing, better loops, better fishing
We make them in two sizes:
7'7" 4-wt — for creeks, dries, and close work
8'0" 5-wt — for bigger water, nymphs, and hoppers
They pack down to four pieces, cast like a dream, and come with a 30-day trial and lifetime warranty.

Sometimes the best thing you can do for your cast isn’t practice harder.
It’s pick up a rod that helps you feel the moment.
And slow it down.
